“I noticed all my memories were really gambling related,” Malek explains to CNN Sport. So right where the AGA and the National Council for Problem Gambling is located – the nation’s capital – they abolished all public funds for problem gambling,” adds Whyte. Ramon Zelaya, the moderator of Reddit’s problem gambling forum, concurs. “I think the pace of innovation right now, particularly as it relates to fan engagement and betting, and in play betting and live betting will continue to increase,” said Maloney. Reportedly there were two specific games in which DraftKings Sportsbook flagged prop bets involving Porter in its daily betting insights.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — When the Super Bowl was in the balance in the fourth quarter a year ago, coach Andy Reid's Kansas City Chiefs put a twist on their frequent pre-snap motion. Two wide-open touchdown passes that helped the Chiefs beat the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 for a Super Bowl title. “He gives you all different types of looks, funky looking plays, different misdirections,” 49ers All-Pro linebacker Fred Warner said. “I think to put it simply, they do a really good job of marrying their run plays to their pass plays,” Chiefs linebacker Drue Tranquill said. But with more defenses disguising coverages and switching after the snap, the motion can confuse defenses and create breakdowns in coverage.

Alabama has had Super Bowl success at quarterback with the first three MVPs being Crimson Tide products, along with Super Bowl 11 winner Ken Stabler. Joe Namath won MVP for the Jets in Super Bowl 3 against the Colts without scoring or throwing for a TD. COMEBACK KIDSSan Francisco reached the Super Bowl thanks to an epic comeback against Detroit in the NFC title game. The only other comeback that big in either a Super Bowl or NFL championship game was the Patriots' rally from 28-3 down to beat Atlanta 34-28 in overtime in Super Bowl 51. (AP) — Even John Harbaugh isn't sure what to expect from Dalvin Cook this weekend. Harbaugh says the running back will be an option Saturday when the Ravens play their postseason opener against the Houston Texans. And Gus Edwards ran for 810 yards and 13 touchdowns for the Ravens during the regular season. The Ravens waived Melvin Gordon III and signed Cook from the practice squad to the active roster. I’m ready to give it all I have — everything I have in the tank,” Cook said.

Sports Illustrated is the latest media company to see its reputation damaged by being less than forthcoming — if not outright dishonest — about who or what is writing its stories at the dawn of the artificial intelligence age. The once-powerful publication said it was firing a company that produced articles for its website written under the byline of authors who apparently don't exist. Earlier this year, experiments with AI went awry at both the Gannett newspaper chain and the CNET technology website. On Monday, the Futurism website reported that Sports Illustrated used stories for product reviews that had authors it could not identify. At the end of each such story is a note that explains technology's role in its production, a spokeswoman said.

Cairo Santos made a 30-yard field goal with 10 seconds left, his fourth of the night after a miss on the opening drive, and the Bears had four interceptions of Joshua Dobbs in a defense-dominated 12-10 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Monday. Moore for 36 yards put the ball at the 13 with 55 seconds left to set up the winning kick. The Bears (4-8) stopped a 12-game NFC North losing streak, including six in a row against the Vikings (6-6). Dobbs threw the go-ahead score to T.J. Hockenson with 5:54 left, but the Vikings stalled out again after that at the worst possible time. That set up the first field goal by Santos, who missed a 48-yard try on the first drive.

___The generational shift at quarterback in the NFL reached a new milestone last week. This was the first time since Week 6 of the 2002 season that no quarterback born in the 1980s took the field. That raised the total of rookie starting QBs this season to nine, tying the non-replacement record set in 2019. The youth movement at quarterback has played a role in the struggles on offense across the league in the first half of the season, with scoring at its lowest mark through nine weeks since 2007. The wild-card Rangers have outscored the Orioles and Tampa Bay — the top two teams in the American League in the regular season — by 25-11. Garver, a backup catcher who hadn't played yet in the 2023 playoffs, hit his grand slam for a 9-2 lead. Garver was in the lineup because it was “just time to get him out there” — to quote Bochy pregame. Corey Seager became the first player to walk five times in a postseason game and scored twice. If it feels like the Baltimore Orioles have accomplished something historic these past couple years, there are some numbers that back that up. That was the New York Giants, way back at the beginning of the modern era. But Baltimore, which clinched a playoff berth Sunday, could still join the Giants with an improvement of over .300. There's actually a Baltimore connection to those New York Giants. The Baltimore franchise then moved to New York and became the Highlanders, who would eventually be called the Yankees.

The sports tech sector had one of its best quarters ever in Q2, according to investment bank Drake Star. The large number of new M&A deals, coupled with an influx of capital and a rebounding market, are driving growth in sports tech, Drake Star principal Mohit Pareek told Insider. In Q2, the biggest deal — and one of the largest ever sports-tech deals — was the April acquisition of WWE by Endeavor, the parent company of the UFC. Drake Star found 199 private-funding deals closed in Q2, up from 176 deals in Q1. Overall, though, less money was raised with the Q2 deals totaling $1.6 billion, compared to $1.7 billion last quarter.

June 26 (Reuters) - The United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) is unequivocal in its support of Ukraine but will listen to any International Olympic Committee (IOC) plan to have Russian and Belarusian athletes compete as neutrals at the 2024 Paris Games. With the Olympics just a little over a year away pressure is mounting on the IOC, sporting federations, national Olympic committees and governments to make a call on the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes at the Paris Games. There are mounting concerns that if Russian athletes are cleared to compete in Paris, even as neutrals, it could spark a Ukraine-led boycott of the Games. "We've been quite measured and willing to give the IOC the opportunity to explore the possibility, understanding how Russian or Belarusian athletes who are neutral, truly neutral, could compete in international competition. That does not include the Paris Olympics with a separate decision still to be taken by the IOC.

But PPI readings can predict the direction of future consumer price readings. High interest rates hurt because they increase monthly costs, but it's the lack of supply that contributes to elevated list prices. If we can get inflation down while seeing other economic indicators hold up, the likelihood of a soft landing increases.
